How to address employment discrimination against the disabled? What to do when support rights are violated? Facing these challenges, individuals with disabilities in the Jiangbei District now have a strong support system—the recently established Public Welfare Lawyers' Team, serving as their "legal guardians" in defending rights.

Persons with disabilities are an integral part of the society. While they may face mobility challenges or communication barriers, their aspirations for a better life and pursuit of fairness and justice are no different from anyone else's. Yet in reality, some of them still encounter rights violations in employment, education, and social security. Due to limited legal knowledge, inaccessible right protection channels, economic hardships, or remote locations, many legitimate needs often go unaddressed promptly and effectively. To better meet the legal service needs of this group, the Jiangbei District Disabled Persons' Federation and the Zhejiang ALLJOIN Law Firm jointly established the Public Welfare Lawyers' Team, aiming to provide specialized and personalized legal aid through enhanced services, creating a more precise and efficient legal support environment.

Inauguration Ceremony

The inauguration and appointment ceremony was held on-site. Journalists learned that the team embodies four key features of public welfare orientation, professionalism, diversity, and targeted services. First, adhering to public welfare principles, the team offers free services, waiving fees for simple cases and reducing costs for complex ones, to ensure accessible right protection services. Second, the team includes two senior lawyers with over a decade of experience, specializing in labor rights, marriage/family law, and disability rights protection. Third, it launched a "barrier-free legal channel", offering tailored services like sign language interpretation, home visits, document drafting, public welfare support, and rapid legal assistance to address diverse needs. Lastly, the team pledges to fully respect the dignity and rights of the disabled, serving each individual with patience and compassion.

An official from the Jiangbei District Disabled Persons' Federation stated: "Only when the light of law reaches households with disabilities can we truly safeguard their happiness. The team's establishment marks another solid step in protecting their lawful rights. It’s a long-term endeavor to ensure every person with disabilities can equally participate in social life and share development achievements."v
