The Spring Festival Travel Rush Press Conference was held by the State Council Information Office of the People's Republic of China in the afternoon of January 8. It is reported that the Spring Festival travel rush in 2025 will start on January 14 and end on February 22, lasting for 40 days. From an overall scale perspective, it is expected that this year's Spring Festival travel rush to see a historical new high in cross-regional trips. According to the transportation department and other sources, it is expected that this year's Spring Festival travel rush is to see 9 billion cross-regional trips, and trips by railway and civil aviation are expected to exceed 510 million and 90 million respectively, both reaching historic highs. From the perspective of travel structure, self-driving travel will remain the mainstay, expected to reach 7.2 billion person times, accounting for nearly 80% of the cross-regional trips in the whole society. The peak daily traffic volume on highways may reach a historic high. This year's Spring Festival is earlier than those of previous years, and there will be a combination of four types of passenger flows before and after the Spring Festival, composed of students, migrant workers, family visits, and tourism, with a high degree of concentration. The urban agglomerations of Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei, the Yangtze River Delta region, Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao, and Chengdu and Chongqing are still the main areas with concentrated passenger flow. It is reported that in order to do a good job in this year's Spring Festival travel rush, transportation, railway, civil aviation and other departments will strengthen the analysis of passenger flow demand, formulate reasonable transportation plans, fully tap the potential of transportation capacity, coordinate and allocate transportation capacity, and maximize the satisfaction of passenger and freight transportation needs. Each department will strictly implement the responsibility system for workplace safety and fire safety, strengthen risk prevention, and focus on key areas and weak links.
