The Badminton Asia Championships 2025 are in full swing at the Ningbo Olympic Sports Center. A year after their first collaboration, the Badminton Asia COO Choi Young-Sung summed up the reunion with Ningbo in three words: “Thrilling, innovative, and revolutionary”. Badminton Asia Championships 2025 "Last year, Ningbo set an exceptional standard, not just with its world-class venue, but also through immersive lighting and sound effects that elevated the spectator experience. My expectations were sky-high returning here," Choi remarked with a smile. And upon arrival, he was struck anew: "From the moment I landed, I sensed something extraordinary. Ningbo has clearly gone above and beyond to make this session even better."
A Sports Carnival Choi emphasized that the Asia Championships represents not only the continent’s pinnacle badminton event but also a BWF Super 1000-level tournament with critical ranking points. “Asia is badminton’s powerhouse region, so every match here is a clash of titans,” he noted. This year, the championships has expanded its offerings: beyond on-court competition, a “Sports Carnival” outside the venue features interactive zones and diverse activities, delivering fresh, multi-sensory experiences for fans.
Choi Young-Sung at an interview Choi also praised the event’s sustainability efforts, including official electric shuttle buses to cut carbon emissions. "I salute the organizers and Ningbo for fostering such an eco-conscious championships environment," he said. On the BWF’s trial of a "15-point, best-of-three games" scoring system from April to October, Choi adopted a wait-and-see approach: "Time will tell if the data supports this change. But our shared goal is clear, i.e., to keep evolving the sport for the better." |
