The world-class cross-sea project of the Ningbo-Zhoushan Railway makes new progress!
2024-01-17 14:46:22

Yesterday, it's learnt from the China Railway Major Bridge Engineering Group Co., Ltd. that the concrete pouring of the 5th main pier of the Xihoumen dual-purpose bridge of the Ningbo-Zhoushan Railway has been completed, marking another stage of progress in the construction of the world's largest-span dual-purpose bridge and the world's widest sea crossing bridge. Let's take a look together ↓

As a shared cross-sea bridge for the Ningbo-Zhoushan Railway and the parallel track of the Ningbo-Zhoushan Expressway crossing the Xihoumen Waterway, the Xihoumen dual-purpose bridge connects the Jintang Island and the Cezi Island of Zhoushan.

The total length of the bridge is 3,118 meters, with a main span of 1,488 meters using a cable-stayed suspension cooperation system. The bridge deck is 68 meters wide, making it the world's largest-span highway-railway joint construction bridge and the world's widest sea crossing bridge under construction.

The bridge is arranged in a "highway and railway flat layer" layout, with a railway in the middle and highways on both sides. The railway is a double track passenger dedicated line with a designed speed of 250 kilometers per hour; the highway is a two-way 6-lane expressway with a designed speed of 100 kilometers per hour.

The bridge has a total of 8 piers, with No. 5 and No. 4 being the two main tower piers in the east and west, respectively. The 5th main tower pier adopts 18 6.3-meter world's largest diameter drilled pile foundations, with a designed pile length of 84 meters and a rock embedding depth of about 37 meters.

As a key control project for the entire Ningbo-Zhoushan Railway, this bridge project has a large scale, innovative bridge structure, and high technological content. It is a super sea crossing project that challenges the limits. After completion, the bridge will become a landmark project for China's high-speed railway sea crossing bridge.

It is reported that the Ningbo-Zhoushan Railway starts from the Ningbo East Station in the west, passes through the Yinzhou District and the Beilun District of the Ningbo City, and the Jintang Island, the Cezi Island and the Zhoushan Island of the Zhoushan City, and ends in the Baiquan Town in the Dinghai District in the east. The total length of the line is about 77 kilometers, with a designed speed of 250 kilometers per hour.

After the completion of the project, it will fill the gap of the last district city in the Zhejiang Province that is not connected to the railway. It is of great significance to improve the layout of the railway network, promote the development of tourism along the line, realize the integration and urban integration of Ningbo and Zhoushan, and accelerate the integration of Zhoushan and Ningbo into the "Belt and Road" and the Yangtze River Delta Economic Belt.
