In the morning of May 20, the launching ceremony of the Ningbo Science and Technology Week 2023 was held at the Ningbo Sci-Tech & Cultural Innovation Harbor, marking the beginning of the Ningbo Science and Technology Week this year.

The theme of this Science and Technology Week is "Love Science and Advocate Science". During the event, major innovation platforms such as the Yongjiang Science and Technology Innovation Zone, the Yongjiang Laboratory, the Ningbo Eastern Institute for Advanced Study (temporary name), as well as scientific and technological innovation achievements in fields such as digital economy and intelligent manufacturing and so on will be showcased, and more than a hundred series of science popularization activities such as nuclear energy safety, Asian Games, marine environment, and online and offline question answering competitions, as well as the "Four Visits" for science popularization will be organized. By organizing mass scientific and technological activities, we aim to promote the formation of a favorable atmosphere of emphasizing, loving, learning, and applying science throughout the society.

At the launching ceremony, leaders and guests presented medals to the National Sports Science Popularization Base and the National Transportation Science Popularization Base. Honorary certificates were awarded to outstanding units and individual representatives of the National Science and Technology Week 2022, representatives of the winners of National Excellent Science Popularization Micro Video Works Award 2022, winner representatives of the 8th and 9th National Science Popularization Explanation Competitions and the 4th and 5th National Science Experiment Exhibition and Performance Awards.

The exhibition activities at the main venue are divided into six categories, namely policy and regulation publicity, scientific knowledge popularization, science popularization base introduction, scientific and technological innovation achievements, science popularization interaction for the benefit of the people, and the "North Bank of Science and Technology Innovation" in Jiangbei. They are carried out in the form of a popular science and technology market, and various experiential projects that integrate science, interaction, and fun are presented to deliver science popularization services to the public, to let the mass public personally understand and experience the mysteries of science and technology, to explore the spirit of innovation, and to experience the charm of science in the "Science Popularization Feast".

At the event, the bright green exhibition area of "North Bank of Science and Technology Innovation" in Jiangbei is particularly eye-catching, gathering 15 science and technology innovation enterprises, including the Ningbo Solartron Technology, the Ningbo Runyes Medical, the Ningbo CRRC Times, the Jiangbei Jiufang Herong Electric, the Siterwell Electronics, the Ningbo Eliga Sports Technology, the Zhejiang Sino-engine Technologies, and the Ningbo Dayoung Technology and so on, focusing on the theme of technological innovation and their respective industrial fields. Major scientific and technological innovation enterprises showcased their brought technological products and research and development achievements, which are very exciting and eye-catching.

At the booth reserved by the Zhejiang Sino-engine Technologies, many people were attracted. Originally, the two aircraft engines used in the space shuttle, HQ400WP and HQ200WP, were on display. Among them, the first HQ400WP engine met the ground test standards in December 2022, and is planned to be installed for trial in June 2023 to achieve mass production and deliver the first batch of orders to customers. This product will fill the domestic gap and significantly alleviate the urgent demand for military high-performance large-scale unmanned aerial vehicles in China. At the same time, the Sino-engine Technologies has undertaken the "Science and Technology Innovation 2025 Major Special Project of Key Technologies and Industrialized Products for Integrated High-Power Density High Temperature Motor Drive of Turbojet Jet Aeroengine" and won the first prize of the Ningbo Science and Technology Progress Award 2022.

Similarly, the Ningbo Runyes Medical's booth is also bustling with customers. As a national specialized and innovative little giant enterprise specialized in oral equipment, it not only brings the newly developed and designed "Dazzling Speed Oral Scanning Treasure (Oral Digital Imprinter)" product, but also invites professional dentists to provide free clinic services, attracting many citizens to experience in person. The plant mosquito repellent protection series products brought by the Ningbo Dayoung Technology have brought good news to people who are troubled by mosquito bites in summer. In addition, many high-tech products such as the new intelligent smoke alarm brought by the Siterwell Electronics, the digital physical fitness training and force testing platform brought by the Eliga Sports Technology, and the plant lamp lighting technology brought by the Ningbo Haiming Hongxi Optoelectronics Technology were highly favored by attendees.

It is reported that in order to actively promote the co-construction and sharing of high-quality science popularization resources, and effectively improve the level of public service for science popularization, Ningbo will organize a large number of science and technological professionals and science popularization workers to carry out science popularization in communities, enterprises, schools and rural areas to benefit the people. Research institutions, higher education institutions, and science popularization bases in Ningbo will also be open to the public during the Ningbo Science and Technology Week 2023.
