Three years later, It will be only a 26-minute ride between Ningbo and Hangzhou. The other day, with the mobilizing meeting on the construction of the Ningbo Section of the Huang-Yong Special Passenger Railway, the project started officially.
The Huang-Yong Special Passenger Railway is an important part of the national high-speed passenger railway network, an important part of the high-speed railway network in the Changjiang River Delta, a key project jointly invested by the Ministry of Railways and Zhejiang Province, and one of the key projects of railways in Zhejiang. The railway is 150 kilometers long, starting from East Hangzhou Station, through Xiaoshan, Shaoxing, Shangyu, Yuyao, Zhangqiao and ending in Ningbo Railway Station. The railway is a double line, electrified, interchanged and closed special passenger railway, with with a designed speed of 350 kms per hour and the investment totaling 21.2 billion yuan.
The Ningbo Section of the line is about 64.5 kms, including 56 kms to be built and 4.2 kms of existing road. When the road is completed the ride from Ningbo to Hangzhou is only 26 minutes, 1 hour and 30 minutes less than the present intercity railway.
